Notes for contributors

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE PROPER CURSIVE QUOTATION MARKS AND APOSTROPHES THOUGHOUT: “x” and ‘x’ NOT "x" 'x' !
  • Please use double quotation marks (“x”) for quotations within the running text. Quotations of more than 3 lines should be put in the special quotation format.
  • Quotations inside quotations are put in single quotation marks (‘x’).
  • Translations in glosses and in the text are put in single quotation marks (‘x’).
  • Italics should be used for examples within the running text and in indented/numbered examples: e.g. Bücherwurm (‘bookworm’).
  • Emphasis can be marked either by italics or bold face (choose one and be consistent) – NOT underlining or capitals
  • References are given in the main body of the text.
    • Single Author: (Author Year:_Page) and (Author Year).
    • Different authors are separated by semicolons: (Author Year; Author Year; Author Year:_Page).
    • Single authors are separated by commas, there is no need to repeat the name: (Author1 Year1, Year2, Year3; Author 2 year:_Page).
    • More than one reference per year by the same author are marked by a, b, c etc. Here the author’s name is repeated. (Author1 Yeara, Author1 Yearb, Author1 Yearc; Author2 year)
  • Please give full page numbers, e.g., 117-119, NOT 117-9. Do not use f., ff.
  • Please use footnotes, not endnotes.
  • Page numbers are put in the top right corner.
  • Please provide interlinear glosses for all non-English examples:
